I need to know how to take care of annual/perennial flowers Do I pull the weds after winter or before?

My spouse used to take care of the garden, she is gone and I can't remember if I pull the dead flower (weeds) before or after winter. I would like to keep my yard nice as she used to and prepare for this coming spring/summer

I am so sorry about the loss of your wife. Her garden can continue on with you though. A bit of trial and error is unavoidable, but in time you will have the hang of it.

Clip the dead flowers from the perennial plants as they occur. This prolongs the flowering season for the plant. Annual plants will need to be planted anew each spring as their life cycles complete in one cycle of seasons (1 year). Pruning, the cutting back of a plant for form is typically done before the first burst of spring growth. Weeds, the unattractive plants you do not want growing in your garden, should be pulled as they appear.
Reply:Gardening is much more forgiving than many people think. I like to clear my gardens in the fall because it makes spring easier and more fun but I've done it both ways and it works fine. Don't stress too much, try to enjoy your yardwork. Also, don't pull perennials, just cut the dead stems down.
