How to identify a flower plant by its leaves?

Found some bulbs (white/oval shaped) with long narrow leafs, rounded at the edges. Was two plants when I first saw them, dug them up and it was 8 bulbs,med.size.Replanted them, now have to wait until next Spring to see what type of flower shows up? Anyone have any ideas?
