Last spring frost?

Hi! im trying to plant some flower seeds, but my seed packet says this:

When to plant outside: 1-2 weeks before the average last spring frost. A second option: sow half the seed 4 weeks before the average last frost (hoping the last frost is earlier than usual) and sow the second half a week or two after the average last frost (just to be safe).

im not sure what the "average last spring frost" is. i live in LA, if that helps

Last spring frost?
If you live in L.A. just plant the seeds now

Cheers
Reply:Frost in L.A.? Or do you mean Lousianna?

For me in zone 8 (Do you know your zone?) its like around Mother's Day. I'm at 4000' in SoCal.

Maybe somebody can tell you. Or try the NOAA site. (NOAA.gov). They have a monthly forcast page that will help you figure it out. And it will have a place to find your climate zone too.
Reply:chances are you would be okay to plant outside, but let's face it. The weather has been anything but predictable.

If I were you I would plant the seeds indoors. When they begin to sprout, put them outside when the weather is nice and warm - for an hour or two. Then for three or four hours. Don't leave them overnight until they are stronger. This process is called "hardening off". Once the plants get used to being outside, the frost is certainly passed and it will be time to plant outside (in my region that is on the May 24 weekend).
