I am planning a January wedding. I decided I can't do the spring flowers and winter has been my happiest time of year. I love the cold weather. Any concerns are positives you have noticed in your planning? I am in New York City.
How Many of you are planning a January wedding???
I did a December wedding and loved it. It wasn't as cold the day we got married, at least I wasn't cold lol.
Good thing about winter weddings is you can do the winter theme and that is a beautiful theme to go with. The favors they have and the decorations are fabulous. I'm including a nice site below with winter ideas.
The only real problem with winter weddings especially you being in NYC is snow. Weather in general is so unpredictable in the winter travel could be difficult for family members. So take that into consideration that there is a chance some people won't make it. But overall Jan is an off season time for weddings so a lot of stuff should be less expensive bonus! :)
Reply:I would just be concerned about the weather. Hopefully, you won't have a snow storm. NYC is pretty safe, though, not too many times you get totally snowed in. I would plan a daytime wedding because people don't like to travel home when it is very late, cold, dark, and perhaps icy outside. Trains and subways are spooky at night sometimes, roads can be icy. Maybe if you plan a night time wedding, have a hotel where guests can choose to stay overnight, and share a nice breakfast together before leaving (during the day instead of night). And, remember, your anniversary will be in the winter, in January, which may be very nice in the future because you can plan warm weather vacations in the dead of winter to celebrate your many years together, or you can plan for a ski vacation in the rockies some year. You can have many winter theme touches, such as chestnuts roasting on an open fire, winter wonderland, snow flakes, or a snow man theme. You can also have a nice fire in an fireplace, and use a more sporty ski or snowboarding theme.
